Another Fresh-Picked postcard from Arizona: tortillas & prickly pear margaritas

One of my neighbors just emailed me to say they hadn't seen my car or me in a while, had I moved? No, I've just extended my trip to Arizona to visit my folks through the end of the month. So I've been Fresh-Picking from afar, but I'll be returning soon for live on the ground reports from around the Seattle food world.

In the meantime, I've been using my holiday weekends here to squeeze in a few roadtrips around the state. I grew up here, but really didn't appreciate it enough until later in life, so it's been great to have the chance to explore it again.

If you'd like to check out some scenes from a very different climate, see some of the slideshows below. You can click through to Flickr for captions and descriptions. Also, for those wild food folks who might have missed it the first time, here's a link to a photo album of Sonoran desert edible and medicinal plants.
