Nettle foraging & pesto-making with Langdon Cook on April 13

Click here to see all the nettle class photos & captions.Last month, I took the ferry over to Bainbridge Island for a nettle foraging and cooking class with Fat of the Land author Langdon Cook. I am still in the Hodge Podge Lodge, so there's no time for a proper Field Trip Report, but I wanted to do a quick post about another upcoming event he's doing.

The Bainbridge Island Parks Department has a lot of cool stuff going on (check out their wild food events here) that make a trip to the island worth the ferry ride over. (Especially if you luck out with a perfectly gorgeous day like we were fortunate enough to have on that day.)

And they've just added another nettle foraging and cooking class with Langdon. This one is on April 13, from 10am-2pm and costs $39 for BI residents, $44 for non-residents. The park will arrange to pick you up if you walk on the ferry.

See the full details in this flyer herecheck out my pictures below and click over to Flickr to read more about it. And check out this post for more wild food events.

We love making nettle pesto at our house. We have such a huge supply of nettles in our yard along the creek. Still a few more weeks until we see nettles here though.
