On the Menu This Labor Day Weekend, September 4-6

If you have opted to stay in town, you have plenty of delicious options on the event menu: corn, wine, beer, salmon, Thai cooking, challah and more! I'm including Labor Day in the round-up and there will not be a Monday post. However, come back here on Tuesday for an announcement about the next giveaway!

- Blues for Food Festival (Live blues music, with proceeds benefiting the P-Patch Trust. $8-15)
- Corn Festival: Corn roast, salsa roast. "Many varieties: yellow, white and bi-color. U-pick sunflower fields. Stop in for a fun day on Grandpa’s farm. He’ll tell you how to freeze your corn for the winter. It makes a great treat!"

Friday, September 3
- 3pm – 6pm: FREE! Challah-Palooza at Whole Foods Roosevelt. "In celebration of the upcoming Jewish New year we will be sampling holiday items and serving samples of Kosher wine for $1. Free and open to anyone who loves to eat - please join us! Co-sponsored by JFS, Jconnect, and Whole Foods Market."
- 5pm – 7pm: Beer Tasting: Laurelwood Brewing at Malt & Vine. $1
Saturday, September 4
- 11am – 1pm: Class: Lunch & Learn - Simply Salmon @ Diane's Market Kitchen. "Join Chef/Instructor Diane LaVonne for two hours of cooking and conversation inspired by the fresh seasonal ingredients found at the local farmers. $ 45.00 + WA sales tax.
- 2pm – 5pm: FREE! Wine Tasting: Wines to Grill With. "It's time for fire, meat, and fine wine! Celebrate the last weekend of summer in the great tradition of grilling. We have picked some of our favorite wines that are perfect for that cookout. Start out with two excellent Washington whites and move into some real fun Cali Reds! Finish off with a pretty Carignan from Chile and you're set to pick some great wines for your cookout!"
- 4pm – 6pm: Live music and wine tasting on the Trellis Patio at Columbia Winery Side Bar. Free admission. Flatbread Pizzas and Wine by the Glass will be available for purchase.
- 6pm – 10pm: Swine & Wine Sunset Dinner at the Greens Benefit for U.S. National Lawn Bowling Championships. "Don't miss this unique event with guest chef, Nick Musser from icon Grill. Chef Musser will prepare a delectible 4-course pork dinner paired with wines plus lawn bowling and the best sunset in the city. This event is the perfect outing for the adventurous epicurean! Cost: $85.00 per person ($40 is a tax deductible donation) This dinner is a fundraising event for the 2011 U.S. National Lawn Bowling Championships. Jefferson Park Lawn Bowling Club has been selected as the host of this prestigious event. We thank the icon Grill and Seattle Sports Commission for their support.
