Fine. FINE. Bacon Events
Image via FlickrMy irritation at bacon-exclaiming (which I am not alone in) is well-documented, and I have therefore steadfastly refused to be a bacon-booster on this site. I mean, it's fine and all, I'm just a grumpy, coal-hearted contrarian who is reflexively annoyed by too much groupthink and groupexclaiming, no matter what the topic.
But there's a little tidy little batch of events coming up, and I am powerless to resist the opportunity to do a theme post, so here you go. I will, however, refuse to use a single exclamation point in this entire entry. And I'd like you to imagine the somber notes of Philip Glass's Metamorphosis 5 playing while you read it. I'll kill that buzz! Oops, I'll kill that buzz.

The author of the book, Ari Weinzweig will be at Baconopolis to speak to the wonders and magic of bacon as well as sign copies of his book. All of our savory bacon tastes will be taken from recipes from his book." $25
Friday, August 27, 5-7pm: Free Book Talk: Zingerman’s Guide to Better Bacon by Ari Weinzweig at the Kirkland Metro Market. "Author Ari Weinzweig guides you on a personal tour of bacon’s long and curious history. You’ll find out why bacon is 'the olive oil of America.' You’ll travel from medieval England, where bacon was used to promote matrimonial harmony. You’ll head to the farm and learn about 19th-century drovers who were crucial to the hog trade. Ari’s story shows how bacon moved from delicious farm staple to a huge-selling flavorless commodity—and how it’s going back to its roots today. There are loads of delicious, welltested recipes."
