Today the "Get Ready for Summer" series continues. Yesterday we took a look at upcoming BBQ events.
Today, let's plan for dessert. What's better to end a summer meal than some cold and delicious ice cream? And Seattle's ice cream scene continues to flourish.
Here's a round-up of local frozen treat purveyors, a listing of local food folks' recommendations for making them at home, and a calendar of ice cream classes and other related events.

- Husky Deli in West Seattle has been making its own ice cream for 75 years!
- I’m an unabashed fan girl of Dana Cree’s pastry creations and her ice creams are always impressive; you can check them out at Poppy. (Some of her ice cream tips are below for the home chef, too.)
- I’m also an unabashed fan girl of pretty much everything at Art of the Table, and Chef Dustin Ronspies is now making “custom seasonal ice cream or sorbet to order.” Contact them for ordering by the quart.
- Snoqualmie Ice Cream and Seattle Sorbet’s frozen treats are also local.
