Important site user note

Due to the volume of events covered, cancelations, sold out and full events might not always be updated in the calendar or old blog posts. Please always check directly with the event venue (links to venues or original postings are at the bottom of calendar entries or linked via the event name in blog posts) to ensure the event is still scheduled and available.

Quick Bite: 10 Ways to Cook & Eat Well on a Budget

Image by Flickr user Phillie CasablancaIt's been a while since I've done any Penny-Pinching features, so here you go.  A few of these I recently tweeted, but reduce, reuse, recycle, y'all.

  1. On Sunday August 9: Whole Foods Bellevue has their Giant Sidewalk Sale from 10am-2pm. House Wares at least 50% off. Mini farmers market will be there too.
  2. You might not want more email, but if you’re not subscribed to the newsletters for your favorite local bar or restaurant, you might be missing out on some mailing list deals.
  3. Ditto for cooking schools. Cook’s World, where I used to work, offers special deals only to the mailing list. I’ve also seen mailing list deals from Bon Vivant. Check out the Cooking Schools page for other schools.
  4. Still on the fence about Twitter? If you think you don’t have anything to tweet, no worries. Use it as a local news feed and follow your fave businesses. Local businesses sometimes offer discounts to their Twitter followers. Seattle Magazine is compiling a list, check their blog for future updates.
  5. If you don't already get Pike Place Freshwire Newsletter, sign up. Usually have some Market business discounts for readers.
  6. You can also get discounts for shopping green with Seattle Weekly’s Green Card Program.
  7. Don’t forget to check your Neighborhood Blog for discounts on businesses in your hood.
  8. And check back on the early Penny Pinching features on this site: Class & Tastings, Grocery Shopping and Eating Out.
