Important site user note

Due to the volume of events covered, cancelations, sold out and full events might not always be updated in the calendar or old blog posts. Please always check directly with the event venue (links to venues or original postings are at the bottom of calendar entries or linked via the event name in blog posts) to ensure the event is still scheduled and available.

Weekday Specials (Mon 1/19/9 to Thu 1/22/9)

Here's what's on the Calendar for this week.  See the events listing for contact info, etc...

Monday

  • The Tasting Room usually has their Mac and Cheese Mondays, but you might want to call ahead in case they are off for the holiday (Their calendar isn’t available right now). (Downtown, starts at 5pm)

Tuesday

Inauguration!

Some events (like Central Cinema and Tom Douglas’s event) are already sold out, but here are some that appear to still be available. I’d also recommend calling your favorite spot and seeing if they have any special plans, or see Slog for more ideas.

In the morning...

  • Paramount Theatre: Free event, with Obama-themed concessions from Tom Douglas for sale. They include Malia Scones, Banana-bama Bread, Sasha's Carroty Goodness Muffins, and an Obama-Mama mimosa. (Downtown, starts at 7am)
  • The University of Washington will be offering an Inauguration Viewing and Brunch at Terry Lander Hall. (U-District, 7:30-11am)

In the evening...

  • Poppy is offering ½ price cocktails from 5pm to close. Get that St. Germaine one I apparently can’t stop talking about. (Cap Hill)
  • Vegetarian spot Café Flora’s having an Inauguration Party, too, also with a deal on cocktails. (Madison Park, starts at 6pm)
  • The Corson Building will be having a no-reservations open house with pizza and oysters. (Georgetown, starts at 6pm)
  • And there will be a soul food buffet at the Obama Ball in South Lake Union. (6-10pm)

Wednesday

  • BEES for FREES! The Seattle Free School is offering a free beekeeping class. Caution: do not attend if you are Nicholas Cage. (Greenwood, 5:45-7:45pm)
  • The Vegetarians of WA have their monthly gourmet buffet tonight. (Mount Baker, 6:30-8pm)

Thursday

  • Farestart’s weekly Guest Chef is Chester Gerl of Matt’s in the Market, is sold out, wait list available.
  • Cheap Wine and Poetry at Richard Hugo House (Cap Hill, starts 7pm)
  • Chocolate for Choice (Safeco Field, starts 7pm)
