Weekend Food Event Round-Up, Dec 5-7

City Stimulus is a "grass-roots marketing campaign to urge buyers to shop local and to shop small." Friday, Saturday and Sunday there are a whole slew of restaurant and shop special bargains and deals. See the website for the full list and to download your card.  Participating stores and restaurants include Babeland, Dahlia Bakery, Cap Hill Caffe Vita, Retrofit Home, Restaurant Zoe and more. (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)

Winter Beer Festival: "Showcasing winter seasonals from over 30 Washington breweries with a variety of big, bold winter beers and pub cuisine, with holiday gift shop." (Friday, Saturday)

FREE! Confronting the Food Crisis: Cultivating Just Alternatives to the Corporate Food System. "An informative, hands-on, free event exploring FOOD - politics, policies, gardening, farming, gleaning and dumpstering, creating access, and more!" (Friday, Saturday)

Confection Workshop at Theo Chocolates. (Saturday)

It's not just the holiday season; it's also Lutefisk season.  Lutefisk and Meatball Dinner at the Sons of Norway Hall in Bothell. Lutefisk, meatballs, boiled potatoes, lefse, ice cream, served family style. (Saturday)

Santa Brunch at the Southeast Seattle Senior Center. Brunch, and photos with your choice of Santa: African-American, Asian or Caucasian. (Sunday)

Okay, it's not food-related, but I'm the boss of this blog, and I like this. The U-District UW Bookstore will have booksellers and booklovers (including Nancy Pearl) in their Holiday Advice Booth, "doling out book suggestions to all comers." Suggested donation is a just a shiny quarter, and proceeds benefit the Book Store Scholarship.(Saturday)
