Important site user note

Due to the volume of events covered, cancelations, sold out and full events might not always be updated in the calendar or old blog posts. Please always check directly with the event venue (links to venues or original postings are at the bottom of calendar entries or linked via the event name in blog posts) to ensure the event is still scheduled and available.

About Freeattle

Hi! I'm Leslie Seaton. Freeattle is a site to collect free events and resources in the Seattle area.

The site is an offshoot of its host site, Fresh-Picked Seattle.  As I do the event research for the food events calendar for Fresh-Picked, I often find great Seattle free activities and resources that just don't happen to be food-related. It seemed like a waste to see them and not share them somehow, so I decided to put together the Freeattle site in order to give folks a convenient spot in which to find them.

This site was originally a stand-alone deal patched together through free blog sites. I prefer Squarespace (the blog host for Fresh-Picked), but they only offer paid accounts. So in January 2010, I moved it under the FreshPicked site in order to capitalize on the Squarespace functionality without needing to incur the expense of a separate account.

While I do plan to have advertisements or sponsorships on the Fresh-Picked site proper, the Freeattle-specific pages will remain ad-free as this isn't a commercial enterprise, just a friendly community resource that's meant to increase people's all-around good times.

To that end, if you ever have a fun free event you'd like to share with your fellow citizens, please send it along and I'll be happy to add it for all to see.

Thanks!
