Basics, Equipment & Techniques
Intro Image via Flickr user waferboardAre you a beginner in the kitchen? Or maybe you've been cooking for a while but you'd like to improve your skills with a certain kind of technique? This page is a catch-all for both basic and beginning cooking classes and classes that focus on using a particular kind of technique (such as braising, roasting or sauteeing) or equipment (knives, food processors, etc.). I am personally a big proponent of cooking classes. I just learned to cook in the past few years, and an enormous help to me was the year and a half I spent working at Seattle's Cook's World in the University Village area. I like to read cookbooks and food blogs, and watch cooking shows, but it was really the chance to see chefs in action live that helped take my cooking to the next level.
